Spitty - Juicy-Plasma - Serum - Pus In Moist Excema and Chewed Lesions: Irritated (excematous) lesions often "ooze" bodily fluids like serum, plasma as components "almost like blood" and of course, sometimes the wounds DO exude blood. And then, cats and dogs lick these lesions. Mainly because serum / blood on or in a wound is like a "dinner bell" for other predators. And you thought they were licking wounds because they loved you and were cleaning it. Nope, they're trying not to smell like a steak to the other land-sharks out there. Anyway - their SPIT is a contributor to the "gross-mojo" on these lesions. When you use a Cetaphil Wipe on these lesions while they heal - they're LESS GROSS less spitty less plasma-y - and they heal faster, carry less infection and are less 'interesting' to lick so they heal better. Of course a cone is good too. But cleaning a lesion with a NONdetergent cleanser like Cetaphil is good. Cetaphil Wipes: Amazon.com or literally ANY store like Target or Walmart. Lane Bryant, Home Depot and Starbucks do NOT carry Cetaphil Wipes. Just sayin'. You can buy a fat bundle of 'wet wipes' with Cetaphil and I'd recommend it. They're great for cleaning healing wounds, dirty ears, cleansing around some eyes, under-tails, surgery sites, sores. They are ALSO available right down the street at just about any store that sells makeup or cotton balls. So good. |

Something else I found for my dog "Ajax" that's cool: |
Sporn Dog Halter STOPS "pulling and tugging" NOW. (Link) This is what I use now, with my dog Ajax. I used to use the Gentle Leader, but I didn't like including his face in the thing. Now, this just goes around his chest and he DOES NOT PULL ANY MORE. It's great! Amazon.com has it. | |
