"Lipidosis":

Funny thing about cats is, a fat one HAS to eat. If they don't then SOMETIMES the body releases a hormone that says "Unlock the Fat!" as an emergency famine-measure and the body does that. Except the cat is like, 60-100% overweight so it unlocks SO MUCH fat that the liver gets CLOGGED with it, and turns yellow, even.

That's "hepatic lipidosis" and it kills their appetite which makes te "UNLOCK THE FAT" call even louder and the liver even MORE diseased.

So they kinda have to eat. Interestingly they don't have to eat THAT MUCH - I theorize that as long as the cat gets SOME calories and the gall-bladder dumps every day that they're LESS LIKELY to go lipidotic?

Who knows. Anyway they kinda gotta eat.

Does skipping a day of food cause it? Nope.

It takes more like 2-3 for a fat one to go that way and then it's super hard to stop it.

This is what I use now, with my dog Ajax. I used to use the Gentle Leader, but I didn't like including his face in the thing. Now, this just goes around his chest and he DOES NOT PULL ANY MORE. It's great! Amazon.com has it.

You can buy a fat bundle of 'wet wipes' with Cetaphil and I'd recommend it. They're great for cleaning healing wounds, dirty ears, cleansing around some eyes, under-tails, surgery sites, sores.
