NOTICE
If your dog has THREE of the following symptoms, THYROID TESTING IS
PROBABLY A GOOD IDEA.
Low thyroid would be suspected with any THREE of the following in the same dog.
ONE symptom all by itself is not enough reason for suspicion (or expense).
• Lethargy, lack of interest in play, increased amounts of sleeping
• Weight gain and obesity
• Cold intolerance – seeks out warm places to lie down, and or, low body temperature
• Constipation
• Decreased or increased (abnormal) appetite
• Chronic skin disorders, such as dry skin, blackening of the skin, thinning of the hair coat, excessive hair loss
Low Thyroid occurs COMMONLY in Golden Retrievers and in dogs
OVER 5 years of age. If your dog is enthusiastic to the point of HYPER, it is probably NOT hypothyroid. If your dog seems "old" or "slowing down" before you'd think it was appropriate age-wise, it probably IS hypothyroid. ☺
Have you seen these? These can track your pet (or kid) in real time and unless they get the thing off their collar, you can find your pet. Highest rating on Amazon - reliable and again, unlimited range. (It uses the internet) Put one on your pet soon, and cut your chances of losing your pet. | |||
Sporn Dog Halter STOPS "pulling and tugging" NOW. (Link)This is what I use now, with my dog Ajax. I used to use the Gentle Leader, but I didn't like including his face in the thing. Now, this just goes around his chest and he DOES NOT PULL ANY MORE. It's great! Amazon.com has it. |
You can buy a fat bundle of 'wet wipes' with Cetaphil and I'd recommend it. They're great for cleaning healing wounds, dirty ears, cleansing around some eyes, under-tails, surgery sites, sores. |
