Kennel Cough: Kennel Cough Is a 'generic term' for a cough that is contracted AROUND THE TIME OF, or just-after boarding. There are five causes of "Kennel cough" to be separated. 1) Kennel cough germ. (Bacteria - vaccinable) 2) Other unrelated random airway germ 3) Influenza (virus - vaccinable) 4) Parainfluenza (virus - vaccinable) 5) Airway allergy 6) Excessive use of under-diluted disinfectants 7) Hair in throat A fever all but PROVES numbers 1-4 Airway allergy is a seasonal thing and can sometimes be inferred from that if the dog's not going around other dogs. Often we'll just treat symptoms and let things work out - offering clues as to what's actually going on. Doc Johnson On occasion there's something more significant going on and those items would be assessed if remedy was not achieved with treatments. Cardiac disease and PIE can be ruled out by the physical examination (but a neuro exam and a skin scrape might help, in corporate 'literally anything's possible here" veterinary arenas) |

Something else I found for my dog "Ajax" that's cool: |
Sporn Dog Halter STOPS "pulling and tugging" NOW. (Link) This is what I use now, with my dog Ajax. I used to use the Gentle Leader, but I didn't like including his face in the thing. Now, this just goes around his chest and he DOES NOT PULL ANY MORE. It's great! Amazon.com has it. | |
| You can buy a fat bundle of 'wet wipes' with Cetaphil and I'd recommend it. They're great for cleaning healing wounds, dirty ears, cleansing around some eyes, under-tails, surgery sites, sores. | |
