Yeasts Deep In The Skin :

Yeast infections.
So, the yeast (fungal) organisms live in LAYERS in the skin and this one: Malassezia lives DEEPEST in the skin.
Well, the skin grows OUT in layers which is nice.
We shed skin all the time as "dust" and that's what most house-dust actually IS. Gross?
So the skin's coming off in layers and the Malasezzia is proliferating in the outer layers and then going deep.
But if we kill the Malassezia in the more superficial skin then there's LESS AND LESS in the deeper layers.
Then, after 5-6 weeks - if you're treating that whole time - there's NO MORE Malassezia in the skin and voila! No more chronic ear infections.
Until they 'catch' another one. Or will they?

Chronic skin infections are OFTEN potentiated by a low-thyroid state. That should be tested anywhere along during the process of taking care of the skin. Lichenified/acanthotic skin can be thinned with DMSO which can be used as a vehicle for topical antimicrobials.

Hibiclens has been making a 4% chlorhexidine scrub and solution for ages. It's the best if you think you're dealing with a yeast/ringworm/malasezzia infection. These lesions need to be cleaned whether there are other medications going on board or not. This is the foaming version and you simply scrub in the hairless areas, and then wipe off with a damp rag. This is what I use now, with my dog Ajax. I used to use the Gentle Leader, but I didn't like including his face in the thing. Now, this just goes around his chest and he DOES NOT PULL ANY MORE. It's great! Amazon.com has it.

You can buy a fat bundle of 'wet wipes' with Cetaphil and I'd recommend it. They're great for cleaning healing wounds, dirty ears, cleansing around some eyes, under-tails, surgery sites, sores.
