What ARE your good grocery store choices? What's rendering good health in dogs, really? Are grocery store foods as toxic as the boutique-food manufacturers assuring us? NOPE they are not.
Foods for dogs? Sure, there are a lot of good and great ones. But what if price and quality move to the forefront? Here are the foods I recommend IN ORDER of price-versus-quality-tradeoff. Costco Healthy Weight (Best in show, all around) Costco Salmon and Sweet Potato Adult (For people avoiding chicken) Chicken Soup for the Soul Chicken, Turkey and Brown Rice Adult formula, Amazon.com - What my dog Ajax eats. Rachael Ray (Target etc) Nutrish, Just 6 and Peak. Her diets are well formulated and there's integrity in the ingredients list that you don't find in Iams diets any more. Nutro Lamb and Rice Low Fat or Regular Adult. Amazon.com: "Chicken Soup for the Soul" Turkey and Brown Rice formula, and pay attention to the pellet size. They have five! It's affordable and it's the best formulation you can get online, delivered. Hill's Prescription I/D Low fat (High price but two, keen strategic feed-values of low fat, low residue, no diarrhea (ever))) Foods I don't like much at all: Pedigree IAMS Purina (There are some okay ones like "Favor" and step up "Savor") Skip this one: Dr. Marty just released: "Dr Marty's Orphan's-Tears and Ostritch Breast Diet enriched with micronized-patented 'Washed-Up-Vet-Dr.Marty's-Golden-Aura-Himalayan-Crystals (pink salt) and eagle-feather dream-catchers." (Read: poultry by-product (feather) meal). Skip "Nature's Blend" and foods from "The Farmer's Dog" <= it's ridiculous the outright lies they tell in order to sell you dog food. The secret to HEALTHY WEIGHT is NOT putting anything at all in or with the food, which should be a quality DRY pellet. Yes, they will eat CONSIDERABLY less food.... In fact, since dry food is "just okay" they'll only eat what they NEED. Not what they want. And their weight will be lower.
Feed only dry food nothing not even water on it, twice a day. -Dry dog food -Nothing on it -Nothing in it -Not even water. -Egg? On the side. -Pinch of canned? On the side. Treats: Broccoli or just the dry dog food and act like it's special. Dry food keeps dogs eating what they NEED, and not what they WANT. The worst dog food: "Your dog will LOVE it!" The best dog food: " Your dog will eat some of it!" Dogs can go 45 days without eating ANYTHING. So don't let them Hungerstrike you into mixing Twinkies and Syrup (hahaha) into their food to "get them to eat" when they're already top-end-weight. Many dogs simply STOP eating when you stop putting a little wet food on the dry food, or stop adding water to the dry food. Because suddenly they don't WANT the food, they intend only to eat it as NEEDED. Of course, they'll still act starving when you're eating regular people food

You can buy a fat bundle of 'wet wipes' with Cetaphil and I'd recommend it. They're great for cleaning healing wounds, dirty ears, cleansing around some eyes, under-tails, surgery sites, sores.
They are ALSO available right down the street at just about any store that sells makeup or cotton balls. So good.
