Guide to Feeding Dogs Under 10 Pounds:

Feeding a dog under ten pounds for better weight.

If you need your dog or cat to weigh LESS than ten pounds; just take a TEASPOON and measure ONE level teaspoon of the desired dry food per pound - to be fed twice a day, to be served DRY, with nothing on it, not even water, or broth or whipped cream.

Just dry:
I told a client to feed dry food, with nothing, not even water on it. For some reason, that only meant NOT mixing the ice cream in it. (This dog was so obese that was the only way to "get it to eat" - it had leptin levels over 1,300 mg/dL) but they felt that water and broth were okay. (Cause it has very few calories? But that's not the point) - eliminating "excess appeal", is the point.

So measure ONE teaspoon dry food per pound, and put it in a little cup and MARK THE CUP so you don't have to measure in teaspoons forever.
So for a desired weight of:
1 pound = 1 tsp 2x daily
2 pounds = 2 tsp 2x daily
3 pounds = 3 tsp 2x daily
4 pounds = 4 tsp 2x daily
5 pounds = 5 tsp 2x daily
6 pounds = 6 tsp 2x daily
7 pounds = 7 tsp twice a day
8 pounds = 8 tsp twice a day
9 pounds = 9 tsp twice a day
10 pounds = 3 tablespoons twice a day.

Best Brush Ever

This is the best brush on the planet. This is the one I use on Ajax and I *did* used to use a Furminator - used to recommend that but for Ajax, it kinda grated on his elbows and knees. This is smoother and it CLEANS itself with the push of the button on the back the tines retract and then you just remove the mat of hair. They're cheaper than you'd think, too!

Amazon has them click here.

Something else I found for my dog "Ajax" that's cool:

Sporn Dog Halter STOPS "pulling and tugging" NOW. (Link)

This is what I use now, with my dog Ajax. I used to use the Gentle Leader, but I didn't like including his face in the thing. Now, this just goes around his chest and he DOES NOT PULL ANY MORE. It's great! Amazon.com has it.

You can buy a fat bundle of 'wet wipes' with Cetaphil and I'd recommend it. They're great for cleaning healing wounds, dirty ears, cleansing around some eyes, under-tails, surgery sites, sores.
