EGC is the development of red sores on the bellies of cats. These sores may have an "edge" around them, and they may actually be thickened and hard. They've been described as 'plaques' of diseased tissue.
Turns out they are deeply inflamed tissue that shows up MOSTLY because the cat is dumping massive numbers of inflammatory cells there. For reasons we don't know.
We can give those cats corticosteroids unless you're the kind that doesn't. You can also use other chemotherapies but I'm a fan of steroids.
Some topicals may help, but cats lick those off. A cone collar helps.
So if your cat has red sores on the belly what we would do is shave the hair away from these sores so they can dry out. We'd have you cleaning them up daily to remove spit and serum. And MAYBE a topical medication to put on once or twice a day as possible.
Steroids like Prednisolone would be instituted. I like PrednisOLone better than Prednisone because it just seems to be the best steroid-species in Cats.
If we have to use 'more' or 'more aggressive' medications we can discuss this.
