Diabetes- What Now?

Diabetes is managed with insulin by injection, given twice a day. It's pretty successful.
There are ways to feed the pet to make management a little less difficult.

I'm sending an explainer on that as well. "Dr. Google" and the 'breeder websites' have a lot of armchair quarterbacking that makes diabetes seem FAR more complicated than it needs to be.

We're going to order some insulin over at Walmart, it's the cheapest source of insulin on the planet. About $30 a bottle. You'll get syringes as well.
We'll have the rest of the bloodwork back tomorrow morning and convene to show you how to give insulin. Not much happens today.

We'll meet in person and I'll teach you injection technique. We'll talk about testing routines. You will be surprised at how we do "glucose curves" here. On the internet you'll read about people putting their pets to sleep for SO MUCH TESTING - - but with experience and a Vet's integrity, all that is overkill and testing can be reduced to be somewhat noninvasive timewise and financially. I'll teach you.

This is what I use now, with my dog Ajax. I used to use the Gentle Leader, but I didn't like including his face in the thing. Now, this just goes around his chest and he DOES NOT PULL ANY MORE. It's great! Amazon.com has it.

You can buy a fat bundle of 'wet wipes' with Cetaphil and I'd recommend it. They're great for cleaning healing wounds, dirty ears, cleansing around some eyes, under-tails, surgery sites, sores.
