"She Could Weigh Less"

Words to the wise about a dog that's a "little overweight". Early action saves years!

Could weigh less. (S)he's not "fat" -- but (s)he's carrying extra and that accelerates 'bad backs and knees' in the older dog. Feed 1 "slightly rounded" kitchen-measuring cup*, of crunchy dry dog food of "moderate flavor" avoiding foods like: "YOUR DOG WILL LOVE IT!!!" and serve it dry; with nothing-not-even-water on it - twice a day. TWICE a day. See note on "what's a cup?" below.

Dog always act hungry (unless they're already fat.) If they're overweight, often you have to add-stuff to 'get them to eat'. And people do 'get them to eat'. Which is weird. Coz the dog gets heavier.

Green veggies like beans and brocolli are great treats if salted, then frozen.
Dry food served dry measured, twice a day.

*The red-and-white plastic 16oz party Solo-Cup is not the cup you're looking for. Want a kitchen-measuring cup.

This dog is halfway betewen "okay" and "fat". In other words, just a small percent overweight. But enough to matter.
What happened is this: What they get to eat tastes very good. They eat when they're not hungry. Dog gets fat.
All you gotta do is CHANGE NOTHING and cut the food to DRY food (served DRY) - twice a day - at this amount: ______ . Only. Kitchen measures. You can still give "a bite of this or a bite of that" and it won't matter metabolically- but MIX NOTHING in that dry food. Not even water. "Keep 'em lean" is the best advice on dogs you will EVER get *ever*. Fat dogs are SO expensive. Their dermatology, enterology, endocrinology and rheumatology is monstrously pricey for overweight dogs. It impacts literally everything. And they don't live as long, like, by three years usually.

Proper Measuring Cups

A proper measuring cup, tablespoon and even teaspoon are critical to a dog or cat's weight? Did you know that a TABLESPOON extra of food per day results in FIVE POUNDS excess calories by year's end? Just a tablespoon! Measure accurately and have your pet around YEARS longer.

Something else I found for my dog "Ajax" that's cool:

Sporn Dog Halter STOPS "pulling and tugging" NOW. (Link)

This is what I use now, with my dog Ajax. I used to use the Gentle Leader, but I didn't like including his face in the thing. Now, this just goes around his chest and he DOES NOT PULL ANY MORE. It's great! Amazon.com has it.

You can buy a fat bundle of 'wet wipes' with Cetaphil and I'd recommend it. They're great for cleaning healing wounds, dirty ears, cleansing around some eyes, under-tails, surgery sites, sores.
